Movable Skylight

Operational environment: Mecca pilgrimage site - new mosque loop

Technical requirement:

  • The roofs of 12 mosques (weight 300 t) are to be moved from the mosque via an anteroom
  • Lifting, moving and positioning fully automatically
  • Monitoring of the 12 roofs by a higher level process control system made by ALTMANN
  • Highest safety requirement, since in case of fire, the roofs are used for smoke extraction of the mosques
  • Completely made of stainless steel

Sliding wall at the Bundeswehr Memorial, Berlin
